"Perseph"
Art, for me, is a meditation. It is a way of resolving the dichotomy beneath all other dichotomies: that of Creator and Created. When I am doing art, when I am in the creative process, my critic mind, the mind that believes it is separate, that is always judging, comparing, and obsessing about how things will be better if/when/then is not there. It becomes so engaged with the process that it forgets to suffer. This is why I do art. It is also why I believe everyone is an artist. Everyone is created, so everyone is creative.

"Mother" Much of my healing process (and therefore art) has centered around reclaiming the sacred feminine and being present in my own mortal, imperfect, and sacred (yes, it has curves, I have a stomach) body. This does not mean I hate men! It simply means this is the art emerging out of my own psyche being called to be born. As Maya Angelou said to the men in her audience before introducing the poem Phenomenal Woman, "Honey, you've got to write your own poem [or painting]!"

"Compass"
I do not consider myself or my work "religious" (Buddhist, Hindu, Christian, etc). As they say in 12-step program, religion is for people that believe in hell and spirituality is for people who have been there. I believe that humanity right now is being called to transcend any differences that we believe to be separating us. Religions simply use different metaphors to teach the same truth: we are made from and returning to love. When we realize this, we will heal the (w)hole inside our Self that ever began the battle.
