Innocence

In my soul, a child aches

In my heart she cries

The pain of the child echoes

Resonates through the tissue

Body memories surface

Pain, long buried, arises

Seeking solace and release

My arms cradle the child

Giving comfort and reassurance

I reparent my innocence

Making it all better

REBORN

I am new, reborn

This time without parents

None other than my Creator

The Creator of all

She brings me forth in

pains of growth

Out of the darkness

Out of ignorance

My new eyes are delighted

Awed by the beauty that is

My soul absorbs it all

Gulping and guzzling it in

My heart swells with love

My soul with enlightenment

I am the being I am to be

Reborn as me...

Pixie Dust

A fairy perches

on a flowering branch

The dew twinkles

in the morning sun

Her wings flutter

awaiting flight

Pixie dust at the ready

Ready with the magic

A new day has begun

pregnant with possibilities

She dives into sun-kissed air

Into a future not yet known

Excited, scared, joyous

Shadow

Who am I in your shadow

Cloaked in your accomplishments

Dwarfing my own

As a caterpillar struggles

To break free from its cocoon

I wiggle and squirm

Inching forward, slowly, deliberately

A toe at a time

With fingers to follow

Like a snake leaving behind its skin

I am birthed into the light

I look back wondering

Whose shadow and why

What appears amazes me

My ego stands sheepishly before me

No longer running the show

Welcoming Sun

The sun, strong and brilliant
Promising warmth and light
Illuminating the world
Nurturing all living creatures
Coaxing the flowers to bloom
and the trees to reach heavenward
Giving life to everything
I bask in its love

How do I stay me

How do I stay me?
The me that is a
Purple stone
In a sea of pink rocks

The me that is a
Triangle
In a sea of circles

The me that is a
Light
In a sea of darkness

How do I stay me?

Musings

Art is not so much expressing oneself, as it is discovering oneself.
- Anawanitia

The only thing better than singing is more singing.
- Ella Fitzgerald

Stop. Breathe. Allow yourself the luxury of doing nothing for a moment, or an hour, or even a day. It is in emptiness that inspiration will appear.
- Carole Katchen

I don't see why we ever think of what others think of what we do – no matter who they are. Isn't it enough just to express yourself?
- Georgia O'Keeffe

Fried Sugar Throat

Peel me like a pear
I don't care
wear me anyway you want
as long as I'm soft
drawn open
a fried sugar throat
a resting bone
breath like strawberry
and a sore sore throat
so sore I rub it
I love it

Do whatever you want
I don't care
as long as I'm soft
tasting tangerine
caught like a thief
whispering vines
in between teeth

My hands wander
my eyes wander
my heart wanders
I'm fine as long as you
let me go on about with
this sweetness
a fried sugar throat
going sweeter
with every turn

Peel me like a pear
I don't care
spin me round
see what you create
little jewel box handler
wear me anyway you want
I don't care
as long as I'm soft
sore and sweet.
