Intuition & Strategy, Con't

by Cecilia Yu

Dealing with the "opportunity" and "danger" of life is a subtle process. It takes intuitive wisdom to embark on it, passion & emotions to  bravely tackle such visions & it takes a lot of heart and a smart strategy to make it work.
Recently, the emotional reactions by various public figures to the Australian bush-fires that devastated a vast area of country Victoria and killed many in its torrid path came to mind, to illustrate my point. In the midst of all the Australian mourning, grief , Hollywood fundraisers & rage against the mentally ill Arsonist,  in the area of my hometown (Melbourne, Australia) there were many who applauded the tears & emotions of Prime Minister Rudd as he vowed to hunt down what he considered the single cause of the fires ie. Arsonists. However many leading intellectuals also observed growing demands for our politicians to cry in public to prove they are emotional beings and care deeply about the issues.
A particular article written by one famous and at times infamous Melbournian Germaine Greer, succinctly expressed what I would consider "cool strategies". Ms. Greer pointed out that bush-fires have always been an act of nature that is part of life in Australia since the times of the firs settlers. Intuitively, the danger of natural or unnatural causes of bush fires were always present. Prevention strategies such as tight regulations for buildings in the bush-fire high risk zones have always been present & available. The question is why such strategies have been ignored in order to make way for rapid housing developments in country Victoria? Perhaps less time should be spent on the emotional furore against a mentally ill arsonist, and more weight should be given on why safety measures had been ignored in the last 20 years since Ash Wednesday (the last bush-fire which also devastated lives & burnt down hundreds of thousands of homes)?

I do not have any easy answers. But as a strategist, I appreciate the right questions asked at what is perceived as "the wrong time". It is good to support victims of  tragedies but it is too easy to find a "focus" for one's emotions and misdirect one's feelings into answering the wrong questions.

Intuition grounded in wisdom, passion beyond temporary emotions and objective intellect exist to help us "focus" on the right questions, even if it is asked at "the wrong time, the dangerous times, the difficult times", so that the answer can lead us to a transcendental strategy that expands rather than limits our lives. To me, these are the core values of Spiralmuse and the reasons for our spiritual musings....

Musings

"Like any tool used for self-discovery, growth, and healing, journal writing takes practice; patience and consistency are the underlying prerequisites for change and growth. Journal writing is a tool that you can integrate into your lifestyle as you move forward on your path of self-discovery. Make a quiet time and space for yourself to write. There's no need to be rigid about this, because writing might then become something that you come to dread - like a chore or a homework assignment. Let the time you set aside for yourself to write be a time of quiet meditation and introspection."
- Louise L. Hay
