In the beginning, a kitten scampered, blessing all it touched,
blissfully creating life in all that it touched. Where there had
been only flesh, the kitten enticed a soul-force from each being,
and allowing inspiration to flourish. The kitten grew into a cat,
commanding only this: Love me, for I am the center of the universe.
All other lessons we gleaned through observation.
As far as I can remember, Beauty reigned.
I learned from her the truth: the world was created simply because
she willed it so, and because she needed a warm place to sleep.
This ancient cat expressed love like no other being. She was uncritical,
sincere, sometimes fearsome and unkind, but eternally loving.
You were created because I love you, and the world would not
be complete without you - she would explain.
I love you - she beamed, time and again. She offered nothing
further than love. No conditions. No hesitations. No amendments.
Complete and total love.
Cry not, she implored. I chose you out of all that might ever
be, and no matter what else happens, you may depend on me.
That was how I knew she spoke the truth. The world existed, I existed,
according to the life force of Beauty.
The moment of beginning, creation, delays until soul-connection.
Until that point we live and seek to understand that which evades
us. Life is only a glimmer reflecting from the soul's essence. Until
that point, we seek affirmation, love and a warm lap to curl in.
We were created because Beauty willed it to be - laps, back scratches,
turkey and cheese - all so we might seek love and happiness in sunlight
and each other.
