HOLOTROPIC BREATHWORK TM is a powerful method of using non-ordinary states for self-exploration, personal transformation and healing. It is based on insights from modern consciousness research, depth psychology, and various
spiritual practices. It was developed by Stanislav Grof , MD and Christina Grof, leading pioneers in
the field of transpersonal psychology. Holotropic derived from the Greek holos and trapein , means "moving towards wholeness".

A highly experiential method,
HOLOTROPIC BREATHWORK TM combines breathing, evocative music, focused release bodywork, mandala drawing and group sharing.
By activating the unconscious and mobilizing blocked energies, this work gives us access to
all levels of human experience and activates the spontaneous healing potential of the psyche. Amongst these levels are unfinished issues from post-natal biography, perinatal memories,
physical or emotional events and the entire spectrum of transpersonal experiences.

This work is of value to those interested in deep inner exploration, self-discovery and spiritual awareness. It is a wonderful adjunct to psychotherapy and other forms of inner work, as well as a powerful method of self-care for helping professionals. Our intention in the workshop is to create a safe and supportive environment in which each participant can surrender fully to the sensations, feelings or experiences that come up during the session.

Please note : CONTRAINDICATIONS for this workshop include pregnancy, cardiovascular problems, severe hypertension, glaucoma, epilepsy, acute infectious illness, recent surgery or fractures, or history of severe emotional disorder or other psychiatric hospitalization. If you have questions about any of these conditions or doubts regarding any other specific condition please call before attending.

Mireya Alejo , MA ,  an expressive arts therapist graduate from the California Institute of Integral Studies.  She is a social anthropologist who has worked with traditional healers in her own country, Mexico .  Mireya certified from Grof Transpersonal Training in 1993 and has facilitated groups and individuals in this approach internationally; she is currently a staff member for GTT Training in Mexico .  Mireya has also worked as a professional astrologer for the past 14 years using the astrological chart as a tool for awareness and self-development.  She currently works with individual clients and groups as an MFT Intern at the Living Arts Counseling   Center in San Francisco , supervised by Armand Volkas MFT #28789.
